Wedding on the Bluff “It’s wonderful. It’s wonderful.  It’s wonderful.”- Via Con Me, Neri Paro Caso

"Sambafeat mixes Brazilian Soul and Samba of the 70's, American Jazz, and Brazilian Pop to create a funky blend of lively music with the ultimate goal of making the audience move." Steve Aman, keyboard, Sambafeat

Since its genesis in 2005, Sambafeat has been Portland’s go-to band for Brazilian-inspired funk-jazz fusion; they helped open the OHSU Tram in 2007 and 503 Restaurant in West Linn, have played at Jax Bar, SoLo, Schaffer Gallery, the Airport, and both the Interstate Farmers’ Market and the Portland State Farmers’ Market. They can be seen weekly at the Pearl District’s Andina (the Oregonian’s 2005 Restaurant of the Year), where they got their start.

All four members of Sambafeat

grew up Corvallis, Oregon.  Jerome Monaco, Steve Aman and Anthony Wagner were raised together in the same small community and met Mike Montgomery, the new guy, in middle school band.  They have played together in various capacities ever since.  Though all four studied music in college, their talents are varied.  Monaco, lead vocals and acoustic guitar, writes the bands original songs and sings in Portuguese, Italian and English.  Aman melds his classical piano training with a love of the syncopated and percussive elements he discovered while living in Ecuador. Wagner, “The Metronome,” is known for his precision on bass. Montgomery, the band’s energetic percussionist, is considered to be the most entertaining man in Portland.

The group has taken their dance-able, sing-able show up and down the Willamette Valley and throughout the Pacific Northwest.  They play with the same energy at weddings, lounges, concert halls or corporate events.  They are currently working on better channeling the beaches of Brazil for cold Northwest audiences, and their first album, Halfway Around the World, was released in October.
